At the beginning of the spring sports season, student athletes were asked what they are looking forward to in their sport and what they are excited about.
Now that the season has come to an end for many students, they got asked questions about this spring’s season.
Lucca Anderson explains that this was her first year playing golf. Since Lucca only started playing golf one month before the season started, she feels really good about this season. “Playing was enjoyable because of the good community we have and it was fun connecting with new people, and playing in the nice weather.” One of her goals was to learn how to hit her driver, since she wasn’t good at doing that before, and she successfully learned it. Lucca is going to practice over summer and is excited to be more comfortable next season, since she will know what she is doing and she’ll get better and improve.

Grady Harroun states that this year’s soccer season was a lot of fun and a great experience. One of his goals for this season was to win league, which they achieved. He explains that, “even though we lost the last game, it was good having gone through that experience.” Since he is a senior, Grady is going to miss being with his teammates.
Liam Gustafson states that the baseball season started “rocky”, but the team has grown and become united, and now it is going really well. Liam’s goal was to hit homeruns, and he achieved that, but he thinks that he could still do more. One of his highlights of this season is when the team beat WF West in the league championship. Liam is excited to see how far they can go in the next years.
Kendra Schiley explains that, overall, the softball season “had its ups and downs, but it definitely made it more memorable and fun!” Her goal that she set herself was becoming a mentally sound player, which means for her to be okay with failing and knowing that there’s another game, and that mistakes are fine. Kendra’s highlight of this season was at Senior Night when the announcer read her friend and teammate Charlie’s favorite memory, which was “doing random dance battles together”, which made Kendra cry. Kendra is excited for her senior year, since she is looking forward to having an impact on other players in the program, and she hopes that the team will play as well as she knows they can.

Jaxon Bud, one of track and field’s seniors, states that he feels great about this season. The goal that he set himself is to win state, which he still hopes to achieve since state is only next week from May 28th to the 30th. His highlight of this season was the Shaner Invite where he won the long jump with 22.3 ft. Jaxon explains that he is going to miss his teammates the most and the unity of the track team.

This was Ruthie Colyar’s first year playing tennis and, even though she was nervous at first, she had a really good time and a lot of fun. She didn’t set herself a goal for this season, but she improved a lot throughout the season, especially in her serving and the volleys, which she is really proud of. “It was great meeting new people and making new friends. It is a great group of people.” Ruthie is looking forward to next season and hopes that she will keep moving up in the ranking.
Overall, the season has been awesome. Athletes have fun in their sport and make new friendships, while having fun in their sport and looking forward to keep improving.
