The first official softball practice is 3/2 at 2:30! Before that, senior Megan Barrett and junior Cassandra McCartney have been running practices to get in as many reps as possible and build friendships during the preseason.
Attendance matters! If you can be present at these practices, it’s a great opportunity to sharpen your skills and practice with your peers. If you’re able to make it, it would be a big benefit to your softball career. There are only 25 more days until the first official practice, so be there!
Returning T-Birds and coaches are looking forward to having full groups of girls at these preseason workouts. Practices are held every Wednesday after school. Ending times may vary depending on the weather, but if you have after-school obligations that interfere with workouts, just reach out to the coaches to work around them.
Head coach Shaunie Kennedy has been posting weekly clips after Wednesday practices over the past few weeks, showing the team putting in the work. If you have Instagram (@TumwaterSoftball) or Facebook (Tumwater High School Fastpitch), following those accounts will give you a better idea of how preseason workouts are going and why you should get involved.
All the girls are very excited to get the season started and get back on the field on March 2nd! Tumwater softball brings a strong sense of girlhood and fun energy to spring sports, so be sure to watch for schedules and opportunities to get involved.
As a freshman trying out for the softball team, I’ve attended all workouts and am very excited for the start of the season. These practices have opened opportunities to make new friendships with girls working toward the same goal while enjoying a lighthearted yet hardworking atmosphere.
Riley Smith shared, “I’m really excited to make new friends and play the sport I love with some of my classmates that I usually play against in travel ball.”
To wrap it up, the season starts soon—take advantage of this great opportunity to make friends, give softball a try, and knock off the dust. If you’re not there, you’re missing out. It’s tons of fun, full of reps, and a great way to build lasting friendships.
