As we reach the final weeks of school, the ending of the year brings up many emotions for everyone. Some are counting down the days till no more early mornings, no more homework, and having the freedom they don’t have during the school year.
But for some the ending of the school year can be stressful. For the seniors, this is the end of their four years at Tumwater High school. It can be stressful and fun, but overall for most it is bittersweet.
One piece of advice Tumwater seniors tend to give is to “Put yourself out there, join everything, and do everything you can in the four years you get here.” And this truly is the best advice you can give, and also receive, because of the fact THS has so much to offer.
Whether you have done or are doing sports, theater, or clubs here at THS, it’s been an amazing year in all departments.
From the field to the stage, THS has had many standout moments in athletics and performing arts. Although we have not wrapped up all our sports and theater productions, here are a few things THS students have accomplished this year so far.
At the start of the year our football team came out strong, continuing a long tradition of being in the 2A championship. The team continued to build on their legacy as one of the top programs in the area.
Our outstanding dance team came back from nationals with three more state championship titles in Dance, Pom, and Hip-Hop. Scoring high in all their categories, these girls put in an insane amount of work and it has paid off.
Our boys’ basketball team finished 4th in the WIAA 2A State Tournament with a 24–4 record. Overall, they had a great season and many standout moments.
As of May 6, the Thunderbirds baseball team is leading the Evergreen 2A Conference with a 17-4 league record, putting them in position for a league title. Their season has been very successful so far.
Our girls’ soccer team maintained an impressive presence in the 2A Evergreen District with an undefeated conference record. The team earned the league title. Impressive season for these ladies.
The Tumwater Thunderbirds varsity boys’ soccer team is currently competing, holding an overall record of 7-7-2 as of May 12, 2026. The team earned first place in the 2A Evergreen League during the regular season, finishing with a 6-4 conference record. The team has pushed through coming out #1 in the regular season. On May 12th, they will play Centralia in an elimination game. Hoping the best for the Thunderbirds!
Our girls’ tennis team had an impressive season. A majority of our varsity team went to districts with one currently still competing. Great season for these ladies.
Our boys’ tennis team had a great season. They had many hard fought matches and close games with impressive results!
The Tumwater High School girls’ varsity softball team concluded their 2025-2026 regular season with a strong 14-8 overall record. Competing in the 2A Evergreen District, they finished 3rd in the league with a conference record of 11-6. They’ve shown a lot of growth this season. On May 12th they played Hockinson in an elimination game and pulled through with a big win! For districts, the winner moves onto play at Recreational Park Thursday.
Now to our outstanding theater program. The program also recognized its 2026-2027 thespian officers, performed student-led shows, and demonstrated excellence in their performances. Our theater program is truly talented and so fun to watch. Senior productions are May 15th and 16th; those are dates you won’t want to miss!
Our school offers a large variety of clubs, whether it is an academic club like FBLA, Skills USA, or National honors society; a CTE club like HOSA; or our culture and community clubs with choices like Key Club, GSA, or YoungLife! THS offers 21+ clubs and there is always the option of making more! Our club time on Friday is definitely something THS has to offer that is so important and is worth putting yourself out there and trying.
As the school year comes to an end, it’s important to recognize everything THS students have accomplished outside the classroom. From athletics and theater to clubs and academics, this year has been full of determination, talent, and unforgettable memories. While the end of the year can bring excitement, stress, and bittersweet emotions, it also reminds us how important it is to make the most of our time here. Whether you’re graduating or returning next year, remember to get involved, and enjoy every moment. Go Birds!
