Friday May 1st at 1:23 is when the Flower Moon is at its peak. It is the first full moon for the month of May ( the second one being the Blue Moon on May 31st ). The Flower Moon symbolizes the peak of spring, an abundance of wildflowers, and renewal. It also symbolizes a time of growth. Also around May 1st, for a few days, the moon will appear very full and luminous.
Alternative Names:
This moon is also known as the Budding Moon, Egg Laying Moon, or Planting Moon. Now that you know about the Flower Moon, do you know what the average moon phases are?
Moon Phases:
1. New Moon
- This is the invisible phase of the moon.
2.Waxing Crescent
- Part of the moon cycle where the moon is almost fully facing away and you can only see a small piece.
3.First Quarter
- This marks the moon being a quarter of the way through its monthly journey and half of its side is visible.
4.Waxing Gibbous
- Most of the moon has come into view and appears way brighter.
5.Full Moon
- Closest we can get to seeing the entirety of the moon illuminated.
6.Waning Gibbous
- The journey of the moon where the light side starts to shrink and is slowly going out of view.
7.Last Quarter
- Only half the moon is illuminated, also known as the third quarter.
8.Wanning Crescent
- Point of the moon’s orbit where all we can see from our perspective is a thin little curve.
So on May 1st you should go outside after sunset to view the beautiful Flower Moon.
