With spring break around the corner, people may be going on vacations, road trips, or have plans with their friends. But if you don’t have plans, there are many things to do and places to see locally. If you want a fun hour-two hour trip, Seattle has many things to offer too!

Throughout Spring Break, the Hands on Children’s Museum in Olympia is hosting their Bugs & Beaks. It is an event with live animals, bug and bird science, and hands-on crafts!
The animals visiting are the following: live raptors, friendly chickens, insects, and bugs. They are presented by The Falconer, Animal Encounters Petting Zoo, and Pest Stop! If you are interested in how dinosaurs evolved into birds, backyard birding tips (as well as making a bird feeder), high-energy science demos, and music and stories… They have a variety of those too!
There are also lots more crafts and activities being offered, so check out the website for more information, as well as museum tickets.

On the day before Easter, April 4, at your own Tumwater High School, the 29th annual Easter Egg Hunt will be taking place. The best part about this is: it’s FREE! The hours are from 11am-12pm.
At 11, youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be provided their own egg hunt, brought by Thurston County Special Olympics.
11:15 are ages 4 and under, 11:30 are ages 5-7, and 11:45 are ages 8-11.
A grand total of 20,000 eggs will be behind the Tumwater stadium. The eggs will be filled with candy, toys, and prize coupons. Bring your own bag and basket, and take a picture with the Easter Bunny.
A week before the Easter egg dash, March 30-April 3, there’s a virtual contest for winning a prize from the event’s sponsor. More information is available at the City of Tumwater website!

Located between Seattle and Vancouver BC, Skagit Valley offers the Tulip Festival!
Kicking off April 1 and going until April 30, you can go and see tulips at their peak bloom. Mid-April is usually the best time to see them, which is perfect because this is where spring break lands! Go take a fun day trip to see the flowers!
Tickets are $19-23 for general admission, and ages 2 and under are free. There are multiple locations offering a range of prices, so go to the map of the festival to pick the place that works best for you.

Lastly, during April 10-12 in Seattle, the Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival is going to be held next to the Space Needle in the Armory Food & Event Hall, Fisher Pavilion, and Exhibition Hall. It’s free!
There will be taiko drumming, a live sumo tournament, as well as hands-on activities from visitors from Japan.
