Many students dream of starting their own business doing what they love, but few actually do so. It can seem intimidating or risky to put yourself out there and start something new. Though, one THS student took that chance and hasn’t looked back since.
Ava Fieldman is the proud owner of Bites Baked Goods—a small, student-owned business that sells baked goods (mostly cookies).
“Bites is an idea that I came up with to earn extra money by doing what I like. Bites sells baked goods as well as edible cookie dough.”

She started it earlier this school year and, according to Ava, the inspiration came from a successful food vendor outside a dance competition.
“I saw a food truck outside one of my dance competitions and it had a line that stretched all the way down the street and it sold cookies, cookie dough, and other treats. I saw that they were
making a ton of money.”
Ava successfully turned a hobby into a decently profitable business—averaging around 10 orders a week.
Her treats and past weekly specials have included a s’mores cookie, a brookie, sugar cookies, pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting, pumpkin snickerdoodles, peppermint brownies, and sugared scoops (cookie dough). These range from $1-2 for each cookie and $5 for a cup of sugared scoops.

Her most successful product is her s’mores cookie and she once received an order for 100 brookies—that’s a lot of cookies!
She makes the cookies entirely by herself and in batches at the beginning of the week.
While it may seem overwhelming to run a business entirely by yourself, according to Ava, “It’s not stressful unless I get a lot of orders for one product.”
She advertises primarily through her Instagram account Bite’s Baked Goods and through word of mouth. She posts weekly specials on the Bites Baked Goods Instagram and people message the account if they want to make an order.
“If you’re interested in buying treats, message me on Instagram!”
In my very professional opinion, I would highly recommend buying from Bites Baked Goods. The link to the Instagram is here.
