Homecoming, Tolo and Prom are the three dances in the school year that so many students are always excited to go to, planning on what they’re going to wear, where and with whom they’re going to go to dinner with, and, of course, getting out the best dance moves to dance with you friends.
But until everything is ready for the dance and the students can have a fun night and enjoy themselves at the dance, there are many things that have to be done first.
The organization for the dance starts with this year’s ‘Tolo committee’ meeting, where we’re discussing and drafting ideas for a theme and for decorations.
While the committee is doing that, a few members are trying to find a Saturday, where there aren’t any sports games or other events, so that as many students as possible can come.
Once we find a theme that’s school appropriate, interesting and fun for the students, and that has many ways for decoration, we plan with a budget on what and how we want to decorate and we start ordering and crafting things.
Posters get hung up and announcements are being made to advertise. There’s often some kind of winning chance for buying a ticket to a specific day, so that even more students buy one.
We started decorating on Friday during school and also stayed after. Some of us stayed 7 hours and even more to make sure that everything looks good.
Since we take an amount of money for the decorations, and the paper for the posters,we’re trying to get the money back in through selling the tickets, and the coat rack.
Overall, there are a lot of things to do, from looking for ideas to decorating everything, but it is really fun,you are proud of how everything turned out and in the end, everyone is already excited for the dances in the future and what they will bring!
