Sleep is an important aspect for everyday health, especially for students. Sleep helps students function properly throughout the day and lack of it can poorly affect students physically and mentally. The recommended amount of sleep for a high school student is 8-10 hours, but do students really get the recommended amount? I interviewed students at THS and asked them if they receive the advised hours of sleep every night, and the answers were not very surprising.

As you can see by the data, most students do not get the recommended amount of sleep. Whether it’s staying up at night to cram for an exam, catching up on homework, or insomnia, not sleeping right for just one night can set you back two days of sleep to catch up on. Putting down that phone or stretching 30 minutes before bed are some healthy habits to try if you are struggling with sleep. Next time you contemplate staying up late at night, don’t forget to get your beauty sleep.
