These days, Iran is facing a crisis of protests. People are protesting due to the economic problems that have arisen after the currency’s collapse. The protests began after the value of the currency plummeted by 90%.
What is a currency collapse?
A currency collapse means that the value of Iran’s currency has decreased significantly. At this moment, the currency has lost 90% of its original value.
Throughout these protests in Iran, approximately 3,400 people have died. In some cases, people died after being shot. It is understood that the shooters are members of the security forces, targeting people in different parts of the body, with many cases involving shots to the head, abdomen, and chest.
The protests began on December 28, 2025, and continue to this day, having lasted for 19 days so far.
The president blames the United States and Israel for what is happening, claiming they have tried to destabilize the nation by infiltrating agents to initiate the current violence.
He declared that the protests were started by “terrorists” and stated that the government has decided to address the economic problems.
He also affirmed that Iran is in a total war after the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian nuclear program facilities.
U.S. President Donald Trump has sent messages to the protesters, telling them to continue protesting and that “help is on the way.” He also threatened to carry out more direct military attacks if the Iranian authorities executed the detainees. This led to the cancellation of the executions of more than 800 people.
The people of Iran hope for greater personal freedom, human rights, respect, and an end to discrimination.
