Has something crazy happened to you? Perhaps it is something crazy-unfortunate. Or crazy-funny. Maybe even crazy…crazy. (I need a synonym for crazy.)
Every week, you can submit your personal, embarrassing stories for a chance to get them featured in our column! We will find the Silver Lining, and you won’t have to live in shame anymore. Instead of a horrific moment, it will be a happy one. We’ll take your humiliating, laugh-so-you-don’t-cry moments and turn them into comedy gold!
Here’s this week’s story:
A while ago, my mom told me and my siblings that our Grandpa might have Pancreatic Cancer. We were all worried (except my grandpa). He didn’t really take it seriously. He even started planning his own funeral as a joke. Telling my older sister (as a joke) how he wanted it fiesta themed, with a taco bar and a pinata. My older sister took it kind of seriously and got even more nervous about how grandpa was planning his funeral. In the end, it turned out he didn’t have cancer (THANK GOODNESS) but we do have some solid plans for his funeral. Including a mariachi band carrying his coffin. 🙂

Now, here’s my response:
That sounds delicious- I mean hilarious! Your grandpa knew exactly what he wanted- and now you all do, too. What a blessing that he’s still alive, and hopefully will be for a while, but now you’re all set up! (You better have been taking notes…you were taking notes, right?)
Next, is your grandfather trademarking the fiesta theme? Might…need to, uh…steal-borrow– that for…someone. You know, someday.
I digress. Your grandpa has an awesome sense of humor! That’s pretty cool. Your family was spiraling but he was having the time of his life!
When the time eventually comes, I hope (from the bottom of my heart) the mariachi band has huge matching sombreros and someone gets whacked with the pinata. Grandpa deserves nothing less.
