What images come to mind when you think of a football locker? Perhaps you picture some scuffed shoes, a few water bottles, and a long-forgotten stick of deodorant. But nestled in the depths of locker 46 is something far more curious—a mysterious hole that seems to capture and lure people in, using their own curiosity to do so.
What if this unlikely opening leads to a hidden realm beneath the school, teeming with secrets waiting to be discovered? Sure, it might lead to the forgotten space beneath the locker, but where’s the fun in that? Let your imagination run wild as we head on an adventure down this creative rabbit hole!

There has been much speculation regarding the origins of this mysterious hole, with no clear answers as to how it came to be.
Jack Roulst mentions that some daring students have ventured to explore it in the past. They even used flashlights to peer into the depths, yet they “…couldn’t see the bottom.” From this limited exploration, Jack estimates that the hole descends about 4 to 5 feet—though he jokingly suggests that it might go infinitely deep.
Our principal, Mr. Suderman, joined in on the fun when asked about the mystery surrounding the hole in the school.
He humorously suggested that it might be where “Coach McGrath’s sanity has been lost, buried in the depths of locker 46.”
The situation became even more intriguing when Mr. Suderman didn’t dismiss the amusing theory of mole people living beneath the school.
When I pressed him about this idea, he thoughtfully responded that he “wouldn’t be surprised if there were indeed creatures down there that might use a ventilation shaft leading underground, whether they are known or unknown.”
So do we have the answer to this mystery? No, but we do have a lot of fun queries as to what it could be.
(Special thanks to Jack Roulst, Mr. Sudderman, and Mr. Tucker)
