Last Friday, we had our first football game! We won 49 to 20 against EastLake, with Tumwater gaining 28 points in the second quarter, which helped build momentum and pressure on EastLake.

They continued the strong play in the second half, outscoring Eastlake 21-0. Key players included Peyton Davis, who had 140 rushing yards, and Jaxon Budd, who had three touchdowns.
To gain insight into the atmosphere from the sidelines, I interviewed a few students who cheer and support our players. I asked them whether they prefer home games or away games and why.
And the response was unanimous—everyone loves them. Many said they enjoy the energy of cheering on their classmates in a familiar environment, surrounded by friends and school spirit. The students’ enthusiasm clearly adds to the excitement of the games and motivates our athletes to give their best performance.
“Do you prefer home games? If so, why?”

‘I love going to home games because it’s always so hype, everyone there is excited, and it’s nice to chill with my friends.”

“Home games are my favorite because I love the atmosphere. Hanging out with my friends and family helps with the excitement of it all as well, since we can all dress up together! (I think we tend to win more when it’s a home game too..)”

“I like watching the game with all of my friends, it’s cool being in the stadium with everyone so hyped!”

“Home games are fun because I get to dress up and hang out with my friends! It makes a Friday night more fun.”
The overall response was spending time with friends and dressing up. Sadly, this year we won’t have as many home games, but we look forward to October 3rd with our homecoming game at 7:30! Be there and show support to our team! Also, be sure to attend other sports games, such as our girls’ soccer games, Volleyball, Boys’ Tennis, Girls’ Swimming meets, and boys’ golf. Go T-Birds!
