Tumwater High School offers a wide variety of enjoyable clubs ranging from sports, hobbies, religion, and even future career paths. But do you even know what a club is? Or maybe you’re simply not convinced as to why you should dedicate your Friday time to it? Well, I can answer all those questions.
Joining one of the many clubs here at THS is a good way to build a strong sense of community and an easy way to make close friends. You can find like-minded people and bond over the clubs and common interests together. It’s a good way for students with a deep understanding and engagement for their activities to showcase their dedication and passion for it.
There is pretty much a club for anything: hobbies, crafts, gaming, career oriented, oh yeah, and if there’s not one you want but wish we had, feel free to make one! Here at Tumwater High School we want everyone to feel like they have a space, a spot where they can express themselves and what they enjoy, so if you and a couple others feel as though a new club would be beneficial to our school, anyone is open to making one.
Other than building new relationships with fellow peers, clubs can help you in a number of ways. Certain clubs can help prepare you for the job you want in the future, for example HOSA is an entire club centered around learning about and preparing for medical career pathways by giving you the basics, and an understanding of what it’s like working in the medical field.
Clubs also look great on resumes and, more importantly, college admissions. Doing a club or clubs in high school shows colleges you have a sense of community as well as your special interests. Admission officers look for students who have made a commitment to one or two clubs rather than joining multiple superficially. If possible, try and seek out a leadership role in your club. It´s a great way to learn how to be inclusive as well as planning and running activities within the club’s space.
Unless there’s a scheduled event, here at Tumwater High School club time takes place every Friday during t-bird time, so the next time you’re free during Friday t-bird time, don’t be afraid to explore and check out what clubs Tumwater has to offer you!
