As the days get shorter, the air crisp and colder, leaves change to vibrant shades of reds, yellows, and oranges, coffee shops nationwide replace the tropical, fruity flavors of acai, mango, pineapple and guava with the warm, spicy flavors of cinnamon, pumpkin spice, caramel and apple cider.
Why do we crave fall flavors?
Flavors such as various spices, sugary and salty tastes, and apple tangs are deeply linked to autumn memories and nostalgia creating a sense of comfort and warmth. These comforting flavors are not just a seasonal trend, they have deep psychological roots that make them the perfect companions for the colder months. When temperatures drop we crave foods that provide a warming effect. Spices and comforting warm drinks create a sense of coziness that is essential to fall.
