Tumwater High School’s homecoming dance, which happened last Saturday, produced a lot of homecoming posts on social media. Many of these posts took place at the Washington State Capitol in Olympia. I asked people who had their photos taken at the state capitol a series of questions: why they chose the Capitol, whether they were there in the rain, where they went after the photos, and their thoughts on the dance.

Alexa Anderson chose to do photos at the Capitol because it’s beautiful, and she left right before it started raining. After the photos, she and her group of friends went to Fujiyama, and she told me it was delicious. She enjoyed the dance for the most part… but said the music could’ve been better.

Savannah Smith said she went to the Capitol for photos because it’s a really popular place to do photos. She was there for the rain, but said it wasn’t too bad. She went to Niko Teriyaki with her boyfriend for dinner after photos, and she really enjoyed the dance and said it was amazing.

Hunter Griggs said, “I didn’t [want to go to the Capitol], I was forced” (by me) and said that yes, he was there when it rained and that he hated it. After photos, he, his girlfriend, and her friends went to Curry House, an Indian restaurant in Lacey (and it was delicious). He said that he didn’t enjoy the dance because the music wasn’t good and the speakers didn’t have enough power for all they were trying to do.

Van Hoopes said he went to the Capitol because it’s where pretty much everyone goes, and he could take more pictures with people he knows. He was there for the rain but left before it got too bad. He ate dinner at Lady of the Lake with his friends after photos and said, “I thought it [the dance] was alright, but SPSCC will never be topped.
In conclusion, Homecoming last Saturday produced some amazing photos at the state Capitol building and I hope everyone had a great time at the dance.
