As leaves fall, and days become shorter with everlasting rain, the mood at school begins to switch. What goes from fun and exciting days slowly shifts to tests, homework, and exhaustion. For many students, music becomes a way to escape that stress. A way to slow down, breathe, and find comfort in the middle of a busy schedule. The right song can transform a dull evening of studying into a cozy moment, helping us feel grounded while remaining productive.
Fall itself is a season full of contradictions. Calming yet cold, quiet yet busy, fleeting yet memorable. It’s no surprise that people often connect certain songs to this time of year. Some use music to romanticize the season, adding a soundtrack to crisp walks under golden trees or late-night study sessions. Others lean into the mellow, reflective mood that autumn naturally brings. Whether it’s an acoustic ballad, a nostalgic throwback, or a lo-fi beat, songs have a way of capturing the essence of fall.
I went around and asked students to name an artist or song that would put them at ease this fall season!
